本書は、1985年10月3日から5日にかけてサウスカロライナ州グリーンビルのファーマン大学で開催された第35回マウンテン・インターステイト外国語会議(MIFLC)における研究発表を精選して収めた論集です。編者R・フェルナンデス=ルビオ氏によれば、この地域会議は36州および複数の外国から400名を超える参加者を集め、192の学術機関が代表を送るなど、同会議史上最も盛況な回となりました。フランス語、ドイツ語、イタリア語、ルゾ・ブラジル語、ポルトガル語、ロシア語、スペイン語といった各国文学に加え、教授法、言語学、文学批評、文学と芸術の関係、比較文学、古典学、文体論、翻訳論など幅広い分野にわたる研究発表がなされ、フランス語・ドイツ語・ポルトガル語・スペイン半島文学・ラテンアメリカ文学を扱う複数の全体会も設けられました。コーネル大学のジョナサン・カラー博士による基調講演も収録されており、選りすぐりの約40篇の優れた論文からなる論集となっています。書籍の言語：スペイン語・英語　(SBC: 113758)

Description:
The Thirty-fifth Annual Mountain Interstate Foreign Language Conference was hosted by Furman University, and was held October 3-5, 1985, in Greenville, South Carolina. This regional conference was the best attended of our conferences, and attracted more than 400 people from 36 states and several foreign countries, with sorne 391 registered participants. There were one hundred ninety-two academie institutions represented at the conference. Scholarly papers were presented on a number of nationalliteratures, including French, German, Italian, Luso-Brazilian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Other papers dealt with pedagogy, linguistics, Iiterary criticism, Iiterature and the arts, comparative Iiterature, Classics, stylistics, and translation. The program had several «plenary sessions» in French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish Peninsular, as weil as Latin American literature. The address of our keynote speaker, Dr. Jonathan Culler of Corneli University, to the general session was, of course, a high point of the Convention and we are pleased to include his remarks in this collection.
