本書は、ペドロ・カルデロン・デ・ラ・バルカの自筆原稿『汝の隣人を自身のように』の古文書学的校訂版とコンコーダンスからなる第二巻です。編者メアリー・ロレンテ・トーマスは、カルデロンが自筆原稿に施した五通りの推敲方法――文字の上書き、行の途中での訂正とそれに続く修正、行の削除と上下への新テクストの挿入、より長い箇所の削除とその修正文の右欄への記載――を丹念に示しています。特に96行目から131行目および336行目から361行目にあたる二葉は、修正があまりに多岐にわたったため、別の葉に清書されたうえで元の葉の上に貼り付けられたものであることが確認されています。自筆原稿に見られるあらゆる削除・追加・修正がこの生成論的校訂版に反映されており、判読不能な削除箇所には特定の記号が用いられるなど、厳密な編集基準に基づいて構成されています。校訂版本文に続き、頻度リストとコンコーダンスが収められ、第一巻の訂正一覧も付されています。書籍の言語：英語　(SBC: 111706)

Description:
The paleographic edition shows the emendations Calderón made on the autograph manuscript of Tu prójimo como a ti. As stated in the description of the autograph, the emendations were made in five different ways (Section 1. 3. 2. 8). Calderón superimposed letters over others (line 61). Lines were also corrected midline, with the correction immediately following (lines 104, 116); lines were deleted with the new text inserted above or below (lines 94, 95), and longer passages were deleted with the corrected passage appearing in the right hand column (lines 84-87). Lines 96- 131 and 336-361 appear on two folios which had been corrected so extensively that the text was copied on another folio subsequently glued over the first. It is most likely that folios 371vB and 375vB were glued over 371v and 375v after the autograph was completed (see Vol. I, 1.3.2.8).

Every deletion, addition and modification on the autograph manuscript has been included in this genetic edition. The deleted words, phrases and passages have been enclosed in double brack ets. Whenever the portion eliminated was illegible it was indicated by the symbol f.]. The signs / and / register an addition of a letter, word or verse line. When the addition was made in the same verse line, or interlined directly above or below, it appears in the left hand column of the text, directly after the deleted portion. If, however, the addition were made in the right hand column on the manuscript, it retains a similar position here.
